In all, there were ten Crimson Dynamo’s but in this issue, we saw the communist powerhouse for the first time. Once again, Iron Man has to face a nemisis from behind the Iron Curtain at Mr. Big’s subordinate, Professor Vanko, unveils his Crimson Dynamo armor. With the capability of firing of enough volts to short circuit Iron Man’s armor, the communist hope once and for all to rid themselves of Iron Man.
Dynamo reveals himself after he short circuits a rocket that’s being tested by Tony Stark. Iron Man has to save the day and in the meantime, Dynamo sabatoges another of Starks experiments and takes out a couple of his labs before they finally square off. Iron Man uses an electrical force field to protect himself from Dynamo’s electrical surge and he eventually gets Dynamo to reveal himself as Vanko. Iron Man then gets the upper hand and threatens to drop him into a lake to electrocute him. Stark then doublecrosses him by duping Vanko into believing Mr. Big would have killed him upon his return and convinced Vanko to come work for him.
