Iron Man makes some major strides in his second issue. He saves several people at a circus when several big cats escape (it’s hard to tell whether they’re lions or tigers) and in the process, he finds out small children are afraid of his dull metal armor. After the escapades, he paints his armor a gold color which makes it all better.
The plot picks up when Iron Man goes to pick up his current love interest from the train station. It turns out the people of Granville are acting mighty strange and they’ve built a wall around their city. When Iron Man goes to investigate, he finds the citizens worshipping a statue of what looks like a caveman. Iron Man challenges the man who’s taken over the city, named Gargantus, and Iron Man narrowly evades the foes hypnotic state. Iron Man then figures out the lights coming from Gargantus’ eyes can’t be caused by the sun because a cloud that hasn’t moved is blocking the sun. Iron Man deals with Gargantus by throwing some magnets at him and the cave man turns out to be a robot sent down to earth by aliens.
The aliens are of course hiding in the cloud. They haven’t been back to earth since the time of the cave man, hence the neanderthal looking robot. The aliens then run for their life after their robot is destroyed.
